Official: Russian drug industry not to halt as China supplies end

MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) – The Industry and Trade Ministry does not see the risk of pharmaceuticals production suspension in Russia due to shortages of substances from China, a ministry spokesperson told PRIME on Friday.

“Russian companies, knowing that producers in China will halt production for the New Year holidays buy a sufficient amount of substances beforehand. So there are no risks for production these days,” the official said.

Chinese substances are mostly used in generic pharmaceuticals, such as antibiotics, the official said. He said that of all life-saving drugs are 55% produced in Russia, a third of them require substances from China.
